My name is Sushant Harischandra Vema.

Since June 2024, I have been working at Influential.co as a Data Science Engineer. Influential is a global leader in influencer marketing. Founded in 2013, the platform leverages a network of 3.5 million+ creators across all major social media platforms, bringing “human passion and creativity together together to create real-world business results”. I work alongside a lean team of extremely talented Data Scientists, Architects, and Analysts. My current job responsibilities prioritized by impact include:
- Designing and scaling a multi-stage Retrieval-Augmented Generation system to create extractive and abstractive summaries of hundreds of thousands of influencers in our database.
- Assisting in an enterprise-wide migration to Databricks hosted on AWS, from POC to deployment.
- Writing dataprocessing tools and templates in Pyspark for parallel processing.
- Collecting and sythesizing best practices for design of semantic search systems in Confluence.
- Cluster configuration templates for various ML tasks.
I am directly managed by the wonderful Cyrus Mohammadian, the Chief Data Scientist in the organization. Additionally, I work alongside one senior data analyst Ryan Uhlmeyer, one senior software architect Sagar Jadhav, and one senior data engineer Alex Begg. Under the guidance of Anj Yamsani, our lean team is tasked with engineering mission-critical AI capabilities for our platform. I am grateful for the mentorship of each and every one of these brilliant people.
Besides my technical skills, I am a detail-oriented team player who takes great care in producting documentation resources to power innovation in the future. I am also currently writing this website as a platform for sharing technical knowledge in the fields of Generative AI, data science, computing, and more.
